Meet Me!

Hello! My name is Natalie (Jean) Merickel and I am so happy you are here!

Natalie Jean Hair came to be in 2015 - Growing up, I spent a lot of time drawing horses, faces & flowers. I even learned how to braid on my American girl doll’s horse (yes, my mom still has it, braid intact!). I received my degree in Elementary Education from St. Ben’s in 2013, but I always said my backup plan would be to do hair if I burned out from teaching. I quickly realized that didn’t have to be my backup plan, so I enrolled at Faces Etc. of MN where I received my certificate in Multi Media Makeup Artistry in 2015. I was also able to take my first hairstyling class at Faces and fell head over heels in love!  I now specialize in wedding hairstyling, and do around 45-50 weddings a year. I am always pumped to do hair and it brings me so much joy, even if my RBF is on, please know I’m truly having the best time ever!

My style – I create soft boho updos and half ups! I’m a sucker for braids and I’m absolutely a perfectionist. I am comfortable working with a multitude of hair types/texture - curly, short, fine, hair extensions, extremely long hair, thick hair, postpartum hair, and I’ve even styled a couple wigs! I can work my magic from inspiration photos, but now have a handful of signature styles I LOVE creating. My favorite accessories to add are real flowers and greenery – ask your florist for some extras! I also carry extra hair pins/bling for your trial or wedding day :) 

My life - I am a hardcore PISCES. I am a dreamer, a creative, always trying to do the most, or else I am absolute couch potato. I live in Richfield, MN with my new hubby, Luke, and our 5 pets. It’s a frickin’ zoo over here haha WE JUST GOT MARRIED ON DEC 9, 2023! So I know exactly what it’s like to be a modern bride. We have 2 Irish Red and White Setters (Maeve & Randy) that Luke bird hunts with, a rescue Aussie Mix (Scout), and 2 cats (One & Miso). You'll typically find me chugging coffee like its going out of style, snuggling my pets, staying up way too late, binge watching something on Netflix or HBO, reading (my college friends do a monthly bookclub!), and drawing pet portraits.
